Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Are
Today’s Olympians To Watch, Because They Might Have More Priceless Reactions

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings have already earned gold medals for in the “Best Winning Faces” competition as far as we’re concerned! But today the duo are competing for the woman’s beach volleyball glory after besting the Chinese team yesterday in the semi finals. “We just defeated the best team in the world for the past year. These Chinese women are great athletes,” Walsh-Jennings said over the stadium sound system after the win. “We know we have this in us, we’ve just got to go execute.”

We know that these two have got it going on, of course they’ve got what it takes! Plus they have the track record to prove it. The two California natives have earned the gold twice before at the Beijing and Athens Olympics back in 2008 and 2004 respectively, and they’re fired up to take it to the sand in London. They’ve been kicking ass and taking names, becoming the first players to successfully defend their title since beach volleyball became an Olympic sport in 1996. Many have called them the greatest beach volleyball duo of all time, and who are we to say otherwise?

Yet we always find ourselves going back to one thing: Their game faces! We especially love those post win excitment cheers. Let’s hope we see another one today! The match is set for 9 PM London time (that’s 4 PM for us in the east coast) so we’ll see you then.

Misty May-Treanor:

Misty has sports in her blood. Her father Bob “Butch” May was on the Men’s 1968 U.S. Volleyball team, and her mother Barbara was a professional tennis player. She’s even married to L.A. Dodgers catcher Matt Treanor! So it’s safe to say that Misty has been surrounded my champs from her very earliest days.

And she gets bonus points for appearing on The Wizards of Waverly Place, despite the fact that Selena Gomez looks kind of over it.

And she celebrated her 35th birthday at the London Olympics on July 30th! So as long as she wished for a gold medal she should be all set, right?

Kerri Walsh-Jennings:

Kerri is known as “Six Feet of Sunshine” as she towers over the competition at 6 feet three inches tall. She first met her partner Misty when they played against each other in high school! In addition to her stellar volleyball work, she also hosts her own weekly radio show on Sirius XM Satelite Radio. Err, when she’s not in the Olympics, that is. She appeared on the television show Extreme Dodgeball back in 2005, where she proved she was not as good at that game as v-ball: her team lost all 10 games they played.

But she gets bonus pop culture points for appearing in a 2006 episode of CSI: Miami.
