The Rang De Basanti actor celebrates her 34th birthday today

Born on October 4,1978, Soha Ali Khan is a popular actor, especially known for her noteworthy performance in Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra's 2006 film Rang De Basanti with Aamir Khan in the lead role. Soha's mother is legendary Indian actor Sharmila Tagore and her late father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was a renowned cricket player. Soha's brother Saif Ali Khan is also a popular actor and her sister Saba Ali Khan is a jewellery designer.

Soha made her acting debut with the 2004 Bengali film Iti Srikanta. Her first Bollywood film was Dil Maange More. In 2006 the good-looking babe bagged a meaty role in Rang De Basanti and went on to win an IIFA award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her remarkable performance. Soha's work in movies like 99, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Tum Mile and Soundtrack have been appreciated.

This year she will be seen Deepa Mehta's much-talked about English film Midnight's Children, based on Salman Rushdie's popular novel of the same name.

What's the story of Yash Chopra's forthcoming film Jab Tak Hai Jaan

We combined our fertile imaginations with our zany sense of humour and cooked up a story for Yash Chopra's Jab Tak Hai Jaan. It may be or may not be true, but this is our interpretation of the new romance!

When the man (Yash Chopra) who has made the best love stories ever teams up with the man (Shahrukh Khan) who looks best making love onscreen, we expect to see a crackling, mind-blowing epic romance. And since Jab Tak Hai Jaan will be the YRF founder's last film as a director, the SRK-Katrina Kaif-Anushka Sharma starrer has to offer audiences something more than two good-looking people singing and dancing in the Swiss Alps, the woman in a Manish Malhotra sari and the hunk in an Ed Hardy jacket.

What do we know for sure about this one? For starters, JTHJ is set in London, Ladakh and Kashmir.

But Aditya Chopra's poetry as narrated by SRK, the film's trailer, the three pivotal characters and some old and new, some original and some clichéd aspects of the plot that we can deduce are enough to conjure up a slightly crazy, modern-day love story that could be senior Chopra's last ode to romance. And as we listened to the poetic creativity of Aditya Chopra in SRK's mellow voice, we let our minds come up with some magic that could unfold onscreen…soon.

If a filmmaker like Karan Johar shows keen interest in a newcomer to the extent of signing her on to be the leading lady of his new planned film even before the release of her debut production, it certainly speaks volumes for the actor. Yes, we are talking about Mahesh Bhatt-Soni Razdan's daughter Alia Bhatt, who's apparently KJo's latest young sensation.

It seems that the young starlet has that extra ?something' in her to have caught KJo's attention. Or else how would you explain Karan's decision to cast her in his next biggie : 2 States, based on Chetan Bhagat's novel : opposite the young male sensation Arjun Kapoor. Unique pair, no? Karan's choice of his leading lady for his next has certainly raised eyebrows in the industry. Moreover, a majority of the people, including Karan's close friends and trade pundits, are actually more shocked than surprised and they somehow feel that Karan has lost the plot. After all, the buzz surrounding his latest youth-based Student of the Year and the prospects of the young actors in it is very thanda. Then why is Karan going so ga-ga over Alia? We wonder?.

Alia's father Mahesh Bhatt, who started his career as a filmmaker with some serious and hatke real-life dramas, has gradually shifted focus to erotic thrillers, and so is not really fond of candyfloss entertainers : which, as we all know, is Karan's favourite genre. At this stage of her career, considering her debut film is yet to release, we wonder whether Alia would be interested in attempting the rather ?adult' genre that Vishesh Films is known for. Talking about her choice of films in a recent interview, the young lady said that she would like to do more rom-coms at this stage of her career, because that style would be easier for her.

It's too early to judge whether Karan's decision is the right one. For that we'll have to wait and watch how his ambitious Student of the Year fares at the box-office. We wish the director-producers and his young actors, especially Alia, all the luck?.and wait to see how it all works out for them!

When the buzz about Beti B Aaradhya's mommy returning to the big screen surfaced, we were delighted. But then came a dampener?

A while ago the sweet news about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returning to the bada parda with her mentor and fave filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Rebecca created a stir. And it even seemed pretty logical, given that Ash actually looks up to Mani and couldn't have refused a movie that he must have offered.And it was slated to start many months for now, which would be enough time for her to get back into movie-star form. So we believed it. And you did too, readers, right?

But what's this? Now MR's wife Suhasini Ratnam rubbishes it all with, "This (the news about Ash doingRebecca) is wrong." Ouch! Mrs Ratnam even said that Mani is presently focusing on a Tamil movie called Kadal and will do so for the next eight months. After which he would need to take time off to write any new script. Hmmm, that means nothing is happening on the Rebecca front?at least, not for now and not that anyone will admit to yet. Sigh!

But does that mean it's not a possibility even in the future? Being the eternal optimists that we are, we're tempted to cling to our shredded hopes thinking maybe, just maybe, if Mani decides to work onRebecca, he might sign on Aishwarya. It could happen, no? If not now, maybe next year. Possible?

Then again, with a sinking heart we realise that means that Ash's comeback is nowhere on the horizon in the near future. Tch tch. What a disappointment!

And it makes us wonder what darling husband Abhishek Bachchan thinks about it all. Are you a bit disappointed too, AB? ?Coz now it surely looks like your dear wifey is in no hurry to make her coveted comeback : as opposed to your expressed desire : and can even afford to take a while longer to get back in shape while looking after your li'l beti at home. Hai na?

Indian film director and producer Karan Johar introduced the leading actors of Student Of The Year to British fans at Cineworld, Feltham on Tuesday, 2nd October 2012.

The My Name Is Khan director attended a well-organised meet and greet with debutants Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt at the cinema in west-London.

Johar and the cast were greeted by hundreds of fans, who were eager to catch a glimpse of them. Earlier on, we caught up with the cast and director who asked for some tips and about what they should do during their promotional visit to Feltham.

We told them to take as many photographs and give as many autographs as they can and drive the crowd crazy and they exactly just did that.

Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt were mobbed by screaming fans who wanted photographs with them and the actors happily posed away.

Addressing the crowd at the cinema, director Karan Johar said: "Thank you all for coming out to see us tonight and for all your love and I only have more love to give back to you. Make sure you come and give our movie love on 19th of October. If you are young, you will love it and if you are not young, it will make you feel young."

Varun, who has spent most of his childhood in London and has studied at Nottingham University, said that it feels special to be in London and thanked fans for their love and support.

Not many people know but Alia Bhatt is a British citizen and said that London is special to her just like her first feature film as a leading actress, Student Of The Year.

Sidharth, Varun and Alia also performed on ?The Disco Song' from the film with fans singing along and cheering the newcomers.

A lucky fan girl from London also had the chance to dance with Sidharth and Varun on ?Ishq Wala Love' while Alia grooved to Radha with a fan from Bradford.

Johar also gave out exclusive merchandise to fans and participated along with the cast of the film in a Q&A session.

Eros International will release Dharma Productions' Student Of The Year in UK cinemas on 19th October 2012.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone 'officially
aboard' Chennai Express :Bollywood News - FamousCelebrityPicture.com

Before Jab Tak Hai Jaan has even released, Shah Rukh Khan has already begun filming for his next project, titled Chennai Express. Filming began last Thursday, and it will see Shah Rukh being paired again with actress Deepika Padukone, whom he shared screen space with in Om Shanti Om.

The film is apparently a romantic thriller and it is being directed by Rohit Shetty, who is famous for directing the Golmaal franchise, as well as the recent films Singham and Bol Bachchan. It is being co-produced by Shah Rukh's production company Red Chillies Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures. A key figure associated with the project reported the following to a leading Indian newspaper: "On day one, the shoot revolved around SRK and a few other cast members. The schedule will go on for some time." We will have to wait and see how this film will turn out and whether or not Shah Rukh and Deepika will be able to create pure magic.

Chennai Express will release next year, so be prepared to buckle up for an exciting cinematic ride!
